A multidisciplinary team guiding Genesis Spring's science-driven products
Dr. McCarty is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist with a long-time interest in sports medicine and athletics. His passion for treating the active individual stems from his playing days as a linebacker at the University of Colorado, where he earned all-conference honors. In addition to his duties as head team physician for the University of Colorado and University of Denver, Dr. McCarty's specialized practice involves the care of recreational and highly competitive athletes from the community. His clinical expertise includes arthroscopic and open reconstructive surgery of the knee, shoulder, and elbow.
Dr. Deborah Archer is a board-certified physician and medical leader with nearly 20 years of clinical experience spanning patient care, telehealth, and healthcare systems leadership.
Dr. Archer brings a rigorous clinical lens to consumer health — with deep expertise in safety oversight, responsible health communication, and translating complex science into clear, accessible guidance. Her background in multidisciplinary leadership, behavioral health, and quality oversight informs her approach to wellness: evidence-informed, safety-first, and patient-centered. Dr. Archer advises Genesis Spring on responsible health communication standards, ensuring that how we talk about peptide-supported wellness reflects the same clinical judgment she has applied throughout her medical career.
Sean Shelby is a peptide co-inventor and pharmaceutical scientist whose work sits at the intersection of molecular biology, skin science, and human performance. A named co-inventor on a patented peptide product, Sean brings a researcher's understanding of how peptides are designed to interact with the body at a cellular level — making him a cornerstone of Genesis Spring's scientific foundation.
Sean founded Teleost Biopharmaceutical, Inc. in 2014 with a mission to develop, detect, and defend against skin maladies through advanced peptide science — work that directly informed the formulation philosophy behind Genesis's non-injectable delivery formats.
His scientific foundation was built beginning in 1997 at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he spent years in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry focused on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of compounds targeting breast, prostate, lung, liver, and pancreatic cancers — including metastatic resistant forms. That research included deep work on the natural product anthracycline anti-tumor compound doxorubicin and its chemical derivatives, giving Sean a rare foundational understanding of how molecules behave inside the human body.
Dr. Minying Cai is a research professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Arizona, where she has spent over 13 years working alongside world-renowned peptide scientist Dr. Victor J. Hruby on novel drug discovery spanning obesity, diabetes, cancer, and pain.
Dr. Cai's work operates at the cutting edge of chemical biology, molecular pharmacology, and molecular biology — with a specific focus on how peptide-based ligands interact with G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), the receptor class central to how the body regulates metabolism, mood, appetite, and cellular repair. Her research includes the design and synthesis of selective human melanocortin receptor ligands, novel molecular imaging tools, and computational approaches to small molecule therapeutics for metabolic and CNS disorders.
Her deep expertise in how peptides signal at the receptor level — and how those signals modulate energy balance, inflammation, and human biology — makes her an invaluable scientific voice behind Genesis's formulation philosophy and non-injectable delivery approach.
Dr. Victor J. Hruby is one of the world's foremost authorities on peptide science. A Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Arizona, Dr. Hruby has dedicated his career to understanding the chemistry, biological activity, and molecular mechanisms of peptide hormones and neurotransmitters — and how they modulate health, disease, and human behavior at a receptor level. His work sits at the exact scientific foundation upon which Neuvéra's non-injectable peptide formats are built.
With over 1,000 published articles, reviews, and editorials, and more than 25 patents and patent filings, Dr. Hruby's contributions to peptide science are among the most cited and decorated in the field. He has served on the scientific advisory boards of Aileron Therapeutics, New England Peptide, and CMD Bioscience — bringing his expertise to the forefront of peptide-based therapeutic and consumer health development.
Dr. Hruby received his Ph.D. from Cornell University and trained under Vincent du Vigneaud, Nobel Laureate — one of the most distinguished lineages in the history of biochemistry. His honors include the Alan E. Pierce Award, now known as the Merrifield Award, among numerous others.
